Why communicate effectively?
Speaking in public can often be a daunting experience, stirring deep anxieties or even plunging us into paralyzing fear known as glossophobia (the fear of public speaking). Naturally, when we speak in public, we risk being judged by others. However, whether it's acing a job interview, negotiating a contract, or sharing thoughts at a family gathering, we all encounter situations where effective communication is crucial.

In essence, mastering the art of public speaking is indispensable!

Just like writing and reading, the ability to express oneself verbally is essential. Being able to inform, engage, and persuade an audience is a key asset for anyone striving to succeed in life.

Therefore, eloquence—the ability to speak effectively, convince, and persuade through skillful use of language—is incredibly valuable.

Why me?
From a young age, particularly since my high school years, I quickly learned that as a woman of color, I needed to work harder to ensure my voice was heard.
​
Simply being smart wasn't enough. I had to learn to express my ideas convincingly and clearly to get my point across.
​
I first dipped my toes into public speaking through theater. Acting allowed me to fully embody characters, understand their psyche, command the stage, and project my voice confidently.
​
Throughout my academic journey, I thrived on giving presentations; it was my chance to shine while experimenting with different speech techniques and perfecting my delivery to leave a lasting impression. I'll never forget the time my high school French teacher awarded me a perfect score after a somewhat quirky speech—I was overjoyed! By the way, I was dressed as Sarkozy that day!

Beyond academics, I threw myself into extracurricular activities like Model United Nations, where I served as a press officer, and Quebec's Youth Parliament, where I played roles such as Minister. In recent years, I've also led public speaking workshops for students and young professionals at UQAM and ENAP, aiming to make public speaking skills accessible to everyone.

Public speaking shouldn't be reserved for the elite; it's a skill anyone can master.

My mission is clear: democratize public speaking and empower you to become a confident speaker—a true Homo Rhetoricus!
